Full field 3v2 break

The offense will learn to make quick outlet pass, attack the middle on fast break, fill in lanes/spacing and how to read the defense

The goal of the defense is to become better at stopping ball, communicating and anticipating the next pass

The set up:

  • Drill starts with a goalie in each goal

  • 4 outside lines as shown for each team

  • 2 waiting defenders on one end

  • 2 attackers in the middle .

  • Move the goals to the distance that is appropriate for your team and your goals.

The drill:

  • Goalie 1 outlets to first player in one the outside lines on their end,

  • Player with ball attacks middle, other 2 attackers fill lanes and play 3v2 against 2 waiting defenders

  • Next players in 2 outside lanes enter as new waiting defenders

  • If goal or save, Goalie 2 quickly outlets to a player in one of the outside lines on their end who attacks the middle and players who were just defense fill lanes and attack 3v2 the other direction.

  • Players who were just attacking fill in outside lines and one player from both outside lines on that end enter to be waiting D.

  • If turnover, D can pass to Goalie so she can outlet (or coaches can allow D to attack the other end immediately and one outside player will join in)
