Pyramid Dodge out of a 2-2-2 set

This is a very simple philosophy that can work out at any level out of a 2-2-2 set. . The idea is to isolate the best match for a dodge from the top or behind while making the first slide easy to read.

Benefits:

  • The first slide can only come from one place.

    • Any other defenders sliding to help would be too far, including the adjacent slide.

  • Many options to avoid the best defender

  • Space is cleared down the alleys for the dodger

  • Very easy to implement

  • You can be creative with the off ball players

  • The adjacent player who fades to the crease will be guarded by the defender who will be the first slide.  Therefore on the dodge he should fade away from the dodger with the stick up ready to receive the pass.

  • The other 4 players can simply just have their stick up and read their defenders to pop open to space for the pass.

  • The 2 crease men can pick for each other or just both can just clear space to the opposite side of the dodger.

  • If the dodger outlets the ball to one of the two players on the opposite side they should keep the ball hot for a re-dodge or look to feed.
