Open Set Double Mumbo Pop

Maybe you love the double mambo pop but a circle offense is more in line with your offense then a 1-4-1 with two men in the crease.  Give this a try, as with most of this you decide if you want to run it as a set play or as an integrated part of their offense.  This can be run over and over again and look different every time if your team understands the different looks.  The once catch is that you would need to have a player who is a legitimate dodging threat.

  • Start with your best dodger up top to isolate for a 1 on 1

    • Make sure he starts up so he can have a running start  and have space to maneuver.

    • He should be aware of 3 primary outlets out of his dodge if he chooses not to shoot.

      • The two players curling around on the wings

      • The player sneaking around from X

  • The adjacent players pick down.

    • This is typically where the first slide comes from out of an open set thereby causing a lot of confusion for a less advanced defense.

  • The bottom wing players come up curling around the pick with the sticks in the air, upon receiving the pass they have 3 primary options

    • Step in for a shot

    • Dodge to the goal as the defense is off balance

    • Look for one more passs keeping the ball moving hot.
