3 Man Wheel Off Ball Extra Man Offensive Play

How It Works

  • The pass from 2 to 1 triggers the play

  • 2, 3, and 5 run a wheel as soon as the ball leaves 2’s stick

  • 2 is trying to draw as much attention as possible to his cut down to the crease- this causes the defensive attention to go there

  • Once 1 has the ball he has a lot of options- he can pass directly to anyone (except we don’t love the skip backside to 5) or to shoot

  • The best initial look that we usually get is exchanging the ball over the top for a look on the backside

  • Once that is effective we often find that the bottom right defender will rotate up to 5 early and one more down to 6 is a good look

  • Everyone must stay ready, even before the wheel is initiated we want 1 to feel confident to throw skips. The skip to 6 is a really good look.

  • If the D over commits to the wheel sometimes 4 can be open for an easy goal
